Carlota Ciganda, pure inspiration in Bermont, moved closer to the lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give after day two. The Spanish signed 65 shots, 7 under par, the best lap of the day shared with the American Nelly Korda and the South African Paula Reto, to stay three shots behind the leader Jennifer Kupcho, and one behind the former world number 1.
“The key was that I caught a lot of greens,” Carlota said after signing two eagles in the round, six birdies and also three bogeys. “With this wind it was difficult to catch them and then, the truth is that of the par 5s this week there are three that are easy for me to catch,” he revealed. Ciganda has undergone a change in the last few weeks that give him back the freshness that he always showed off. “I think it’s a mental change, to believe more in myself. I have to go out and enjoy and trust all the work I’ve been doing these years.”
In your improvement in the game will be the key to be part of the Solheim Cup team again, which will defend the title in September 2023 at Finca Cortesn. “There’s still a year left, but it’s one of my favorite tournaments. I’d love to be there and win the cup in Spain.”
