Five young up-and-coming fighters from the Judo Club Buchs were represented at the international trade fair city tournament in Dornbirn. The tournament is known for its strong participants from Austria, Germany, South Tyrol, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
The youngest fighter was Silvan Tischhauser (U12, -31 kg). He had to fight four fights, all of which he was able to decide early on with Ippon. That secured the gold medal.
Next up was Kilian White (U14 -36kg). Leverage and choking techniques are permitted in Austria from this category onwards. White was undeterred by this, defeated each of his four opponents with ippon and won the second gold medal for the jacks.
Nice judo with great throwing techniques
Also at the start were Alexander Härtl and Alin Klucker, both U14, -41 kg. With three wins in four fights, Haertl won silver. Klucker won two fights and was able to look forward to a bronze award. Both showed nice judo with great throwing techniques.
Samuel Tischhauser had to deal with strong fighters in the category U16, -55 kg. He skillfully threw his first opponent with Wazari and then fixed him with a hold on the mat. In the three other fights he could not assert himself after hard resistance and ended the tournament in fourth place and gained a lot of experience.
Noémie White is in top form
Four judokas from the Judo Club Buchs took part in the ranking tournament in Spiez. Rachel White (-57 kg) kicked things off in the women’s U18 category. She played three strong preliminary round fights, but lost in the decisive fight for progress and left early.
Her sister Noémie is currently in top form. None of her opponents even stood a chance. Noémie White won gold in the women’s U18 category, -52 kg.
At the start in the next higher category, women U21, she took bronze. Noémie White has long since secured the starting place for the Swiss individual championship in both categories.
Third place twice
Ramon Hardegger (men U18, +81 kg) deservedly won the bronze award. Participation in the Swiss championship is already secured for him too.
Last but not least, Roman Eggenberger entered the mat. Eggenberger started in the category Men’s Master (over 30), +90 kg. He was able to win all of his group matches, but then had to admit defeat in the semifinals and finally finished the tournament in third place.
