Bronze medal for him and silver for Faraone at the Gran Prix Umbria Judo
It has been two weekends that the Sakura Judo Ponte San Giovanni guys will hardly forget. The first, that of Saturday 28 May, when the 2nd Umbria Judo Trophy was staged in Perugia, at the PalaBarton, valid as a stage of the Fijlkam National Grand Prix (a circuit of competitions useful for drawing up the national ranking list of the Federation) , where the boys of Maestro Roberto Sabatini (who for the occasion wore the Cus Perugia shirt) have collected a lot of successes.
Two medals in this very important competition, the only ones won by Umbrian athletes on Saturday, the first, perhaps the heaviest, that of Michele Baldassarri who, in the category up to 66kg after four matches won, and only one semifinal lost, leads to home a prestigious bronze medal confirming once again among the top of the category. The most precious metal, on the other hand, is silver, for Federica Faraone, in the category at the limit of 78 kg. But that’s not all, Samuele Vitali’s seventh place, Eduardo Picciolini’s ninth, Salvatore Pugliese’s tenth, Demetrio Strappini’s twelfth and Lorenzo Bruni and Francesco Brunori’s eighteenth came out of the race.
A combination of results that led Cus Perugia to sixth place in the final team rankings and first Umbrian team classified. On Sunday, it was the turn of the Sakura Under 18s, in particular the colored belts, which brought 3 prizes for team competitions to Ponte San Giovanni: first place at the Csen Regions Trophy – Memorial Giaverina, first place in women’s teams up to green belt and third place in men’s teams up to green belt. Merit of the gold medals of Carola Miroballo and Sofia Vitali, of the silver ones of Nicolas Marsella and Maddalena Cocco, of the bronze ones of Vittorio Massimilla, and Djamila Nucci, of the fifth place of Lucrezia Rinalducci, and of the participations of Natan Zdzitowecki and Alin Ciobanu, who, due to two injuries, were unable to perform at their best.
But that’s not all, during the week Sakura with his youngsters took part in the twentieth anniversary of the Budokan San Mariano friend gym, and then ended the week, on June 5, with belt passes just for the little ones. Great satisfaction for a season that is reserving a lot of satisfactions to all the scaffolding staff starting from Maestro Roberto Sabatini, passing through the president Daniele Calzoni and for all the management composed of Roberto and Gianni Mastriforti, Andrea and Antonio Liotta, Michele Baldassarri, Federico Sabatini and Luciano Todini. The JuDonna project followed by master Sabatini and Letizia Mencarelli is also growing rapidly.
