The Wallabies youth teams have added to their long record a new title of champion of Normandy in categories 12U and 15U. Nothing seems to stop players from baseball de Louviers (Eure).
A result that crowns a very good season for these young players who dominated the Normandy championship again this year.
The players played the title of champion of Normandy this Saturday, June 11, 2022at the end of a faultless run in regional championship.
This final, the young Loverian players have been waiting for it all season in the hope of repeating the good results of previous years which have placed them at the highest level of the Normandy championship and among the five best teams in French baseball.
“Immense joy”
One by one, the young Wallabies got rid of the other Norman clubs involved in the competition: Rouen, Dieppe, Saint-Lô/Cherbourg, Honfleur, the Andelys. Then, on Saturday June 11, at the end of an exemplary course, the 12Us logically arrived in the final for face the Andelys team on their land.
At the same time, the 15U went to Honfleur (Calvados) to compete for the title of Normandy champion.
Hotly contested, the start of the two games gave the two opponents of the Wallabies a chance, neck and neck for several rounds. Finally, after fierce games on both sides, in attack and defense, the experience, patience and determination of the young Louviers players finally made the difference.
With “tremendous joy” and “pride shared by their coach and manager”, the 12U are Normandy champions for the seventh timewhile the 15U hold the title for the third time in a row.
In September 2022 these two teams will de facto participate in the France championship in their respective category. On September 17 and 18, the 12U will travel to Cergy (Val-d’Oise) with the hope of winning the national title. On September 24 and 25, it will be the turn of the 15Us to compete under the Breton sun of Bréal-sous-Montfort (Ille-et-Vilaine).
