The youngest members of the Carmaux judo club qualified at the highest level in their category after an impressive progression. The course for young judokas began last March, during the departmental championships.
On this occasion, 6 of them out of 8 climb to the highest steps of the podiums. On the first step, Munoz Mathéo, Floterrer Gabriel and Fakir Mona, closely followed, on the 2nd step, by Dias Toni and Rossignol Charlotte and by Marc Maelle on the 3rd. These podiums allow them to qualify for the youngest zone championship in Montauban, which brings together the best competitors from Tarn, Aveyron, Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot.
During this competition, the young Carmausins perform well with great fights and finish 2nd for Mathéo and Toni and 3rd for Charlotte and Maelle. These results allow them to continue their ascent and qualify for the large region championship in Mèze, the final stage and highest level for the youngest. During this one, the young Carmausins gave very good performances, Charlotte came very close to the podium and finished 5th, Toni finished 7th; as for the other competitors, they all emerged from pool.
The club’s youngest are following in the footsteps of their elders, 13 of whom qualified this year for the French championships, a junior, 4 cadets, a minimal and 7 in adapted sport. Their coach Sonia Teyssier savors the results of her young athletes whom she has been training for many years and to whom she has passed on her passion for judo through her permanent commitment to them and to FujiKaï judo Carmaux, in a spirit that is certainly rigorous, but very playful.
