How does Mauro Guatemala train to win at the 2022 Conade Games? – Xalapa Newspaper

Mauro Alexander Guatemala García, champion of the 2021 National Games, is preparing with his coach Jorge Custodio to reach a better level and present himself at his next Conade 2022 competition. The athlete who at age 14 won the national title and who at the time gave him the ticket to the Pan American Games, says he is focused on correcting some mistakes that put his qualification at risk.

He mentions that he is learning new techniques that he will use in the next match, because he does not want to lose as in the Regional Macro where he says he learned a lot from defeat.

“Now I have a special training plan to improve some situations that were committed in Oaxaca and I don’t want it to happen again, that’s why we are working hard with my old dojo”, He spoke in the presence of his parents, Soemi García Marín and Crescencio Guatemala.

Regarding the change of dojo, he made it clear that he did not do it for technical training reasons, but rather due to health problems of his mother, Mrs. Soemi. “We changed the training place thinking about the health of my mother, who has an illness. In the previous place of training it was necessary to invest three hours and the truth is that I did not want to leave my mother so much time alone, that is why the change was made”, Mauro expresses.

He adds that now where he is, he is 10 minutes from home and it is with the coach that he has become a national champion, so he says, “changes are always good and this time it was for the health of my mother whom I love. with all my heart”, highlights the young judoka.

He comments that returning with his former sensei gives him confidence, because he already knows him, “a year ago he prepared me for the “Tomoyoshi” competition in Aguascalientes and I already have that confidence with him and I feel very good. My coach, Jorge Custodio, also took me to the 2021 Nationals where I won the championship”, he reiterates. Now to achieve the goal, he says he is training agility and strength, “which is what is needed, because these categories are very heavy, since they are relatively based a lot on strength, you will rarely see fast competitors and now that is what we are looking for. dominate the category”, he points out.

The training of the xalapeño includes variants with combinations “and techniques that I didn’t know and they are the ones we are practicing with, which will be the ones we will use in the Conade,” he says.

For the position in which he is, he thanks each coach, because, if it weren’t for them with all their teachings, I wouldn’t be at the level I am. Each one has provided a part of me that has made me evolve”, highlights Guatemala García.

“What I want is to endorse my 2021 national title and hopefully the results we have been looking for will come about, the truth is we are psyched up for the national medal”he concluded.
