Deportivo Independiente Medellín gracefully ended its participation in the I-2022 League, thrashing La Equidad 1-5 on the roof, being a forceful team, solvent in play and where it managed to pay off that pending debt of having a quiet game as a visitor. In the end, it did not depend on their result and in Ibagué the miracle they needed did not happen. Next, five points from the mighty in these semi-final homers.
Wanting is power: Without pressure, Medellín played loose and saw a rival like La Equidad. Against Envigado as a visitor his emotions betrayed him and he did not go beyond a draw. Against Tolima in Ibagué they played a formidable game, one of the best in the semester, but at home they faltered and missed a great opportunity to be a finalist. In Techo, he took advantage of the numerical superiority and had a feast on a court and against an opponent that always complicates it. Perhaps losing that unbeaten record at the Atanasio was something positive for a team that moved away from its complexes, had fun and scored goals away from home.
Still ball: The first goal and the third came from a free kick and a penalty, both by Adrián Arregui. Medellín knew how to take advantage of that route and with the 0-3 in favor, the match was left at their mercy. He gave him the procedure and although he received a goal, he was able to stretch the advantage to the final 1-5.
Elaboration: The precise game, taking advantage of the spaces was something that Medellín could do very well. He corrected the mistakes made in recent games and seriously, he managed to finish most of the scoring chances.
Order and leadership: What it cost him in the previous game against Tolima, he was able to do against La Equidad. He took advantage of an orderly defensive block to go on a counterattack and finish off his rival.
Concentration: Several specific moments left Medellín out of a new final: The calm that was lacking in Ibagué to liquidate a confused Tolima, losing the papers against Envigado who did time and gave way to a match that could have won. Not solving when he had Tolima subdued at the Atanasio and taking advantage of the public and his court in favor to obtain a better performance. The changes in several games, some were late and others did not achieve the necessary operation.
