It is important for Latvia to triumph not only in the group, but also in the entire D League – Football – Sportacentrs.com

The next finals of the European Championship in 2024 will be hosted by Germany from 14 June to 14 July, making it the first of twenty-four participants. Another 20 tickets will be played in the qualifying tournament, but with the help of the League of Nations, the last three tickets will be distributed – in three mini-tournaments in March 2024, with a total of 12 national teams.

Leagues A, B and C have each been given their own mini-tournament, but the D-League, represented by seven national teams, has remained. Although there are no guaranteed tickets for the D League, D League teams also hope to be relegated through the League of Nations. The winner of each subgroup will play primarily in the mini-tournament of the A, B and C leagues, but if the winner of the group has already qualified for the final tournament ticket, the next best team of the respective league will win the place in the mini-tournament. However, if a team still fails to complete four teams, the first vacancy will be taken by the best team in the D League (unless it has already qualified). Each next vacancy, in turn, would be won by the next best team after the entire ranking of the League of Nations, which does not have a final tournament and playoffs.

Namely, this format means that nothing is guaranteed for the winner of the D league, but it maintains a small, but not at all hopeless, chance of being played. The most plausible scenario: if at least 12 teams from the 15 A league teams, excluding Germany, qualified for the ticket to the final tournament. However, it should be noted that in the D league, both groups are of different sizes – our group has four teams, but the other group has only three. Therefore, games against the fourth place winner would not be taken into account in determining the ranking of the winner of our subgroup. Currently, Latvia and Liechtenstein are in the first and fourth place in our group, but against Moldova and Andorra our balance is 2-0-0 and the goal is 7: 2, which currently surpasses the leader of Group B Estonia (2-0-0, goal 4: 1). . In order to triumph in the subgroup and get a ticket to League C, a draw for Latvia in the fifth round against Moldova will suffice, however, considering the probability of a playoff, two wins will most likely be needed in September. Latvia will play both games the day before Estonia.

The Euro 2024 qualifiers are expected on October 9, with 54 teams divided into six groups of five and four teams of 24 teams, with road signs guaranteeing the two strongest teams from each subgroup. The lottery baskets will be divided according to the ranking of the League of Nations – the first three of the D League will currently be placed in the fifth basket, and the other four units in the sixth basket. However, Russia’s suspension is likely to be extended and it is unlikely that Russia will participate in the draw and qualification. The selection is scheduled for March 2023 to November 2023. One team is already known to guarantee at least a rematch – Greece has already secured first place in its league league C with four wins.
