“It is important to continue” – Racing de Alma

The time has come. After having agreed on all words and discomfort due to the expansion of the signature, Fernando Gago finally signed his contract extension with Racing. The technician will continue working at Avellaneda until December 2023 and this Thursday at noon he gave a press conference together with Víctor Blanco and Mago Capria. There he explained his feelings about the new challenge and objectives that will be presented to him in the year and a half that he will face as head of the team.

For me it is important to continue with something that we started 8 months ago and to believe in a project. I like it… I understand that projects depend on results, but there are ways to get there… I’m very comfortable, the truth is that I spend more time here at Racing than at home and I enjoy it”, said Fernando Gago. And he immediately added: “I have a group of players who work, who have a way of training that I want my teams to have. On a day-to-day basis I have a lot of dialogue with Blanco and Capria gives me peace of mind. We closed the contract a month ago.”

As for the future in Racing, Fernando Gago expressed what is to come. “There are always things to improve. We were changing the organization, in games, in details… It was clear from the results that we are doing well. The best thing we have is the commitment of the player and the club in every way. We have all the appropriate comforts: clothing, balls, playgrounds in good condition. There are always things to improve.”

Gago is still in Racing.

Gago and the future of Racing in the championship

Lastly, Gago spoke about the team and the 5-0 win against Aldosivi: “This championship we have to sustain the game, the results as soon as the team works and has that energy that it generally had in games. To have those sensations again and what we’re working for. Two defeats aren’t going to confuse us, although they do hurt.” And he said about the championship fight: “I ask people to trust, the commitment is very big. The player is here to compete, at no time lower the intensity.”
