Italian International 2022 in Badminton, double for Indonesia and Taipei

The 22nd edition of the Italian International 2022 ended today at the PalaBadminton which saw Asian athletes as absolute protagonists, in particular those from Indonesia and Taipei who were able to earn two golds each.

The Indonesian brace came thanks to the success in the mixed doubles and the men’s singles. In the doubles Zachariah Josiahno Sumanti and Hediana Julimarbela defeated in two sets (22-20; 21-9) the Thais Ruttanapak Oupthong and Chasinee Korepap and two partials (21-16; 21-15) were enough for the young Christian Adinata to have the best on the Danish Magnus Johannesen.

The double success of Taipei, on the other hand, came to be all female. In fact, in the women’s singles Wen Chi Hsu dominated the number one seed of seeding in two sets (21-9; 21-11), the Indian Malvika Bansod and also the triumph of Hsu Ya Ching and Lin Wan Ching in the women’s doubles, at the end of two perfect sets against Singaporean Yujia Jin and Wong Jia Ying Crystal, beaten with a double 21-8.

Taipei would also have achieved a historic hat-trick if Ching Heng and Ye Hong Wei hadn’t found Koreans Kum Jaehwan and Dae Il Yoon on their path, able to take gold in two sets (21-14; 21-19).

“I am extremely satisfied with the progress of this international event – the words of President Carlo Beninati at the end of the tournament -. To confirm the goodness of this edition the over 500 members and almost 50 nations present, this has raised the technical level but our Azzurri have not at all forfeited, on the contrary they have managed to snatch important results.
