The judoka resident in Marbella, Javier Suárez, has been proclaimed champion of Europe in the Master Veterans category held in Crete (Greece). His weight this year is M3-73 kgs for ages 40-44. The competition was tough with victories in all the fights. Especially the final against the local judoka was complicated.
In words in his Social Networks, Javier Suárez has said “fundamentally my strategy was to take advantage of my options on the ground and that’s how it has been. I resolved three of the four fights by immobilization and the other by double wazari with two sweeping techniques against the Greek judoka”. He added: “This has been the most special and emotional moment of my sports career.” The man from Marbella was the only Spaniard to win a gold medal at the Crete Championship.
