Jaylen Brown Highlights Warriors’ Third Quarter Reaction

The Boston Celtics have struck first in the NBA Finals after scoring the victory in the opening game. A victory with an added prize as they thus manage to snatch the home court factor from the Golden State Warriors who, until this Thursday, had not stumbled at home in all the playoffs.

The team led by Steve Kerr seemed to put the game on track with one of their usual runs after the break, which resulted in a 38-24 run in the third quarter and a lead that rose to fifteen points. However, the Celtics masterfully recovered with a historic last quarter in which they overcame their rival (40-16).

One of the great protagonists of the feat, Jaylen Brown, acknowledged after the meeting that they expected the Warriors to come out in a storm in the third quarter. So they approached the second half patiently, knowing they would have a chance to hit back if they stayed true to their own style.

“We talked about it at halftime,” Brown said. “We knew they were going to come out with everything in the third quarter. And they did. They played great. In those moments when you realize you allowed your opponent to make moves you didn’t want, you can deal with it in two ways: let it snowball, or erase that from your mind and focus on the next move. We just kept playing and worked it out. We keep playing and find a way to win.”

Thus, Boston disarmed an opponent visibly outmatched from defense and outside shooting. A quarter in which they finished off Golden State with a 17-0 run in five minutes. Brown himself would contribute ten of his 24 points in that period, offering on a plate, in this way, the first victory of the Ime Udoka.
