THE LADISPOLAN ATHLETE IS 15 YEARS OLD
Young champions grow up. Even if the great result obtained in judo by Diego Contessi should not be deceiving because 4 years ago, the athlete from Ladispoli won the award as the best judoka of the season. For the 15-year-old, however, the latest success obtained is even more important: he ranked first in the Interregional Italian Cup race for the 66 kg category. An event that took place in Ariccia where 156 athletes were present with 53 participating clubs. Diego is registered with the Fijlkam Education Judo Ladispoli company of maestro Pier Carlo Fabri and he has been practicing this discipline since he was 6 years old. «He is in love with this sport – his mother Gothy speaks – and together with my husband Fabio we are very happy with him. We naturally thank Maestro Carlo who always guides him for the best ». To get to the gold medal he went through a course of 5 matches where he always got the better of his opponents. He trains three times a week and alternates judo with school. «He is attending the first scientific high school here at Sandro Pertini – continues his mother – and the competitions are not over yet this season. I remember the pandemic years in which athletes were forced to train at home, he went to the wood of Palo Laziale. We are supported by the La Palma gym but now we will see what happens with the new sports hall ». In fact, there is a lot of anticipation for the work: the Palasport will be inaugurated on June 4 and many companies and associations in the area could finally have their own “home”.
