On June 5, the first women’s baseball club team “10 Carato Express” in Kochi Prefecture practiced for the first time on the ground of the Shikoku Bank baseball club in Nankoku City.
At the time of establishment in April, there were only three members, but after that, there were applications, and there were nine members aged 19 to 36, including one from outside the prefecture. Everyone has experienced baseball or softball when they were students.
The director is Yuki Murakami, who was active in Kochi Fighting Dogs.
Director Murakami “I think everyone is away from baseball, so I want you to reconfirm the fun of hitting and throwing baseball.”
Manaka Ujihara (19) was the captain of the women’s baseball club at Kochi Chuo High School, which graduated in the spring of 2022, and led the team to runner-up in the national tournament. She hasn’t been on the ground for the first time in 10 months since she retired from her club.
Manaka Ujihara “I didn’t move my legs at all. Compared to when I was in the center (high school).”
It was the first time for all nine people to meet each other, and they communicated in conversation between practice sessions.
Manaka Ujihara “There are still issues, but I think we’ve become closer on the first day.”
While recruiting players for the team, we will practice three times a week and aim to participate in league games in the Chugoku-Shikoku region.
Manaka Ujihara “I want to create a team that seems to be the best in Japan”
