The union of Lake Monteynard and EDH Hydro invite the public to meet this Saturday, June 4 for the launch of the festivities on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Lake Monteynard. The latter was created in 1962 thanks to the construction of the EDF hydroelectric dam at Monteynard-Avignonet. Located at the bottom of the Drac gorge, the construction of this gigantic 135 m high dam required seven years of work. In the body of the dam, there is the power plant which was commissioned in 1962. Since then, the water of the lake has been turbined and produces 100% renewable energy each year for the equivalent of the residential consumption of 200,000 inhabitants.
Lake Monteynard is 16 km long. Over time, its banks have been developed, allowing the development of tourist activities. Every summer, 100,000 visitors frequent it and 150,000 people hike the footbridges each year.

Among the highlights, we note the opening of the anniversary this Saturday, June 4; the final of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes league sailing regatta on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June; the opening weekend of the Treffort nautical games, Sunday June 19; World Yoga Day Tuesday, June 21; the trail of the Monteynard footbridges (from July 2 to 10); the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the lake on both shores, Saturday July 30, with in particular a concert and fireworks or the closing evening of the 60th anniversary, Saturday August 27.

Saturday June 4 all day on the nautical bases of Treffort and Savel: demonstration and test of activity and equipment. Baptism sailboat echo 90 on reservation. At 6 p.m. in Treffort: jazz swing concert.
Saturday June 11 : at 6 p.m.: giant picnic and concert at Savel.
Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June, in Treffort: Foil’ie at the lake, demonstration of Foil equipment. Free trials for beginners and advanced. Regional final of the sailing regatta: 130 boats will set off on a course to be seen from Savel beach.
Wednesdays June 15 and 29, 13 and 20 July: observation of birds of prey with the League for the Protection of Birds and EDF employees and explanation of Drac hydroelectricity. Free access from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Meet at the belvedere of the EDF dam of Monteynard-Avignonet, road D110C.
Fridays June 17, 24, July 1, 15 and 22, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.: at Savel then at Treffort, once in two: lectures by astrophysicist Sarah Fechtenbaum (registration required). Themes: planet Mars (June 17 and July 1, July 22), talking to extraterrestrials (June 24 and July 15), At 10:30 p.m.: reading the sky using astronomical glasses with Matheysine Astronomie (free access).
Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June : opening of the nautical games of Treffort. Organization of the Monteynard Open Sailing Trophy, sailing regattas over the weekend with boats from all over Europe.
Tuesday, June 21 : world yoga day with a scheduled yoga session at 6 p.m. in Treffort, then a paddle yoga session at 9 p.m. in Savel (by reservation).
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June : Ultimate test, test of windsurfing and kiteboarding equipment at Treffort.
From July 2 to 19 : trail of the Monteynard footbridges: paying races on registration.
Saturdays July 16, August 13 and 20at 10 p.m.: open-air cinema in Treffort.

Sundays August 14 and 21 : games festival in Savel: from 2 p.m., giant wooden games and percussion group.
Wednesday August 17 and 24, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.: wildlife observation and explanation of the hydroelectricity of the Drac, with the League for the Protection of Birds and EDF employees. Appointment: August 17 at the Passerelle de l’Ebron and August 24 at the Passerelle du Drac.
Saturday August 27 : closing evening at Savel with a concert at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday August 27 and Sunday August 28 : regatta of sports dinghies, Regional Championship to follow from Treffort. At 2 p.m.: adventure run and family triathlon in Savel.
