Twelve Haitian athletes at the first Caribbean Games
D-1 day, as planned, the first Caribbean Games will take place from June 29 to July 3, 2022, on Guadeloupean soil in the heart of the city of Le Gosier, which receives around 799 athletes from 29 countries who landed from the Sunday June 26 and until this time when we publish the article on Monday June 27 in the evening, while waiting for the presence of all the officials for the grand opening ceremony which was scheduled for Wednesday June 29.

The Haitian delegation, composed of twelve athletes and officials is already in Guadeloupe. Out of seven sports disciplines, Haiti will perform in three disciplines, including 3×3 basketball, cycling and judo.
In road cycling, Haiti will be represented by four athletes, two boys and two girls: captain Odvelt Clergé, who has signed a one-year contract with one of the best clubs in Guadeloupe: Excelsior; Fedler Staco, the dolphin of the 90 kilometers of the race organized on June 19, 2022 by the Haitian Cycling Federation in Turgeau; 30 km champion Louisemène Georges and young hopeful Ruth Daëlle Staco. These athletes will not have the easy part on July 1 and 3, which are the respective dates of the stages.
In women’s 3×3 basketball, four Haitian basketball players: Sarah Vincent, captain of the selection, Damicha Adrien, Christelle François and L. Dashiana Pierre Simon will try to make the difference on Friday July 1 against rival teams, namely Trinidad and Tobago and the host country, Guadeloupe, at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively.
In martial arts, more specifically in judo, the weighing session and the draw are scheduled for the night of Friday, July 1, 2022 and the four Haitian judokas: Marie Ivenide Jean-Gilles 57 kg, Love Pierre, 70 kg, Johnson Pierre 73 kg and Jean Bentz-Evely Sadool 90 kg will be on the tatami on Saturday July 2, 2023, hoping to win at least one medal to hoist the national two-tone.
Note that the opening ceremony of these Games took place at 7:30 p.m. on the night of Wednesday June 29, 2022.
