Medellín thrashes Equidad, but is left without an end

Despite the win in Bogotá, Independiente Medellín was not enough to play the final of the BetPlay League I-2022. With a brace from Arián Arregui, a brace from Juan David Mosquera and a goal from Felipe Pardo, Julio Comesaña’s team won 5-1 against La Equidad for the last date of the home runs. Pablo Sabbag discounted at the venue. Tolima won against Envigado and will face Nacional in the final match.

From minute three, the match changed completely. After a great deep pass for Diber Cambindo, Washington Ortega came out to cut the play, but ended up touching the ball with his hand and the judge did not hesitate to expel him. From that free kick, Medellín took advantage instantly with a strong shot from Andrés Cadavid that left a rebound that Adrián Arregui grabbed and sent to the back of the net after a great header.

Despite the man down, Equity did not give up on maintaining their idea of ​​the game and came out to put pressure on the visiting team from the middle of the pitch. That was how he left many spaces behind and, with the inaccuracy of his players, he lost many balls.

In this way came the second goal that, after a long ball by Díaz, Juan David Mosquera went off alone at speed, eluded the goalkeeper and defined with the goal at his mercy. After this, José Hernández Chávez was the one who took the lead on the attack front. Medium-distance shots, looking for both bands and dribbling to find Sergio Román’s goal.

It was until the last minute that Daniel Polanco knocked down Felipe Pardo with an elbow inside the area and, after reviewing the VAR, the judge pointed to the white spot. Arregui scored his double and finished the first half with a win for Medellín.

Equity reacts, but Medellín sentenced in the end

La Equidad showed a very different face in the second half. He maintained his plan of pressuring the rival, looking for Vásquez’s area, but with more intelligence and with a Medellín that lowered the intensity and forgot about order.

Pablo Sabbag fought alone against the entire rival team and created spaces forin the few off-hooks of the ends or sides, they will find a way to finish off the medium or long distance goal.

The visiting goalkeeper had two major interventions before the judge awarded a penalty in favor of the Bogota team. Sabbag dropped a ball for Yoiver González, Cadavid brought him down inside the area for the maximum penalty. It was Sabbag himself who was responsible for converting the goal.

Equity tried by all means, because of the extra man it began to weigh on him physically. It was not until the 78th minute that Pardo managed to sentence the game by scoring the fourth goal. Later, at 85′, Mosquera scored his double with a spectacular dive before Román left.
