Our three best current climbers, Chloé Caulier, Nicolas Collin and Simon Lorenzi, had a big smile on Tuesday at Loverval. And for good reason… In the presence of the Minister-President of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation Pierre-Yves Jeholet, the Minister of Sports Valérie Glatigny inaugurated the climbing room there intended for high-level athletes. After karate, climbing therefore now benefits from new infrastructures within the magnificent Adeps Center at La Ferme du Château. An investment of 344,000 euros for the FWB, i.e.: 293,000 € for the tower and the block (in an adjoining room), 20,000 € for the sockets and 31,000 € for the floor safe.
The main room has a dimension of 100 m² on the ground and 16 m high, enough to offer a few thousand takenand dozens of lanesto our best climbers. It must be said that climbing is a sport in full development since its integration into the Olympic program of the Tokyo Games and its extension in 2024, in Paris. In short, the level of climbing in Belgium will rise and, therefore, our sport will develop well.”
With Chloé Caulier, Nicolas Collin (vice-champion of Europe in lead) and Simon Lorenzi form the top-level Belgian trio. They are already, all three, under contract with Adeps. But there is no doubt that this new infrastructure should allow them to take another step at the international level. And perhaps will soon be joined by Lucie Watillon, already under a Be Gold contract with the COIB…
