In Madrid 13 Italians, 2 females and 11 males competed: Giulia Pierucci (-52 kg), Linda Politi (-78 kg), Mario Petrosino (-60 kg), Luca Caggiano, Biagio D’Angelo and Samuele Facinato (-66 kg), Alessandro Magnani, Davide Ripandelli, Gabriele Sulli and Leonardo Valeriani (-73 kg), Bright Maddaloni Nosa (-81 kg), Loreno Riganò (-90 kg) and Andres Felipe Moreno (-100 kg).
Results
Italy has conquered a silver medal con Linda Politi (-78 kg), due bronze medals con Giulia Pierucci (-52 kg) and Bright Maddaloni Nosa (-81 kg) e due seventh places from Alessandro Magnani and Gabriele Sulli (-73 kg).
Linda Politi passed the first round and won against Vanessa Dureau (Fra), Yelyzaveta Lytvynenko (Ukr), in the semifinal against Eiraima Silvestre (Dom) but in the final she lost against Teresa Zenker (Ger), finishing second and still winning a prestigious and deserved respectable silver medal in the -78 kg category.
Giulia Pierucci she passed the first round, she won against Lalou Lebrun (Fra) but she lost the next match, in the quarter-finals, against Pihla Salonen (Fin), then fished out she won against Nathalie Kolein (Ger) and in the final for the medal bronze against Jade Desbuis (Fra), winning a place on the podium in the -52 kg category.
Bright Maddaloni Nosaonly 19 years old, he won against Karim Mammadov (Aze), Baptiste Pierre (Fra), Pablo Sanchez Garcia Monco (Esp) and Tim Gramkow (Ger), while in the semifinal he lost against Loic Pietri (Fra), winner of the category , and thus reached the final for the bronze against Timo Cavelius (Ger) and thus conquering another bronze medal for Italy, this time in the -81 kg category.
Alessandro Magnani won against Moussa Macalou Soucko (Esp), Artem Khomula (Ukr) and Alexandre Rubiano (Fra), in the quarter-finals he lost against Luca Otmane (Fra), bronze medalist at the end of the day, was rescued but lost against Vladyslav Kazimirov (Ukr), thus coming seventh in the standings in the -73 kg category.
Gabriele Sulli he won against Alberto Varela Ferrer (Esp), Enzo Gibelli (Fra) and Jorge Cano Garcia (Esp), but in the quarter-finals he lost against Nils Stump (Sui), winner of the day, and, recovered, he lost against Alexandre Mariac (Fra), also ranking seventh in the -73 kg category.
They lost in the third round: Luca Caggiano (-66 kg).
Luca Caggiano he won against Jose Manuel Morales Martinez (Esp) and Kimran Borchashvili (Aut) but lost the third match with Nitin Chauhan, silver medal at the end of the day in the -66 kg category.
They lost in the second round: Biagio D’Angelo and Samuele Facinato (both -66 kg), Loreno Riganò (-90 kg) and Andres Felipe Moreno (-100 kg).
Biagio D’Angelo he won against Bolat Bilal (Kaz) but lost to Lennart Slamberger (Ger).
Samuele Facinato he won against Diego Fernandez Campillo (Esp) but then lost to Ilay Yehudai (Isr).
They lost in the first round: Mario Petrosino (-60 kg) against David Ferguson (Gbr), Davide Ripandelli and Leonardo Valeriani (both -73 kg) against respectively Kuan Barys (Kaz) and Anthony Zingg (Ger), bronze medal at the end of the day.
