Paradise-City Fahrenhorst organizes sixth round of volleyball tournament

Stuhr-Fahrenhorst. Four teams competed against each other in the Paradise-City Fahrenhorst volleyball tournament on Saturday. In the end, the hosts also won the tournament, but the focus on the Fahrenhorst village square was the get-together anyway. Especially after the event took place again for the first time since 2019 due to the corona. “Everyone had fun,” Paradise City chairman Arne Hüneke concluded positively.

In the meantime, the tournament with the subsequent Whitsun tree installation can already be considered a small tradition, because it was taking place for the sixth time and Paradise-City is already planning the seventh edition for 2023. The organizers are actually footballers. But among the members there is a lot of overlap with the fire brigade, and volleyball is played a lot there, especially among children and young people, explains Arne Hüneke. And a conscious decision was made not to organize a football tournament.

Four teams took part this time, according to Arne Hüneke fewer than at the 2019 tournament. But that definitely had its advantages. “So everyone could play a lot,” says the chairman. All in all, not only participants from Fahrenhorst were on the field, but from several Stuhr districts, especially from Groß Mackenstedt. Former supervisors of the youth fire brigade would have provided a team, and a mixed team would also have participated.

Spectators had also gathered at the village square. Some took the opportunity to get to know the game of volleyball themselves. “They just played along,” reports the Paradise City chairman. There were also prizes to be won at the end, which the organizers had made available to the organizers, Arne Hüneke was delighted to say.
