Seppi (ATP 149) clearly defeated Aidan McHugh from Great Britain in two sets with 6: 4 and 6: 2 on the “sacred lawn” on Wednesday. Now the 38-year-old South Tyrolean is only missing triumph to make it into the main draw. In the last qualifying round, Seppi meets the Slovak Lukas Klein (ATP 224), who dispatched the German Jannick Hanfmann (ATP 114) in two rounds.
Seppi didn’t have much trouble in the second qualifying round against number 353 in the world. In the first set, the lawn specialist McHugh took the last service game and ended the opening round with his first break. In the second round, Seppi managed that break right at the beginning. The father of two then took another service game from the 21-year-old and put the lid on after just 77 minutes of play. Now Seppi is only missing another triumph for the 14th Wimbledon participation of his career.
