There will be no professional basketball this year in San Luis Potosí – El Sol de San Luis

There was no response from CB Santos San Luis, so it was not included to start the 2022 season of the National Professional Basketball League (LNBP) on July 21.

For the third consecutive year, the directive headed by Víctor Mariscal Mata did not find the sponsorships or the support of the State or Municipal Government to obtain the necessary resources and be able to participate in the professional burst sport of the country.

On its social networks, the LNBP officially published that the 2022 season starts on July 21 and ends in November with 10 squads from nine entities in the country, which are: Soles de Mexicali, Fuerza Regia de Monterrey, Plateros de Fresnillo, Halcones from Xalapa, miners from Zacatecas; Roadrunners from Tamaulipas, Libertadores from Querétaro, Dorados from Chihuahua, Bees from León and Stars from Jalisco.

CB Santos San Luis does not appear on the list since its board did not reach an agreement with the state or municipal authorities to have the support and be able to return to the League, after in 2020 and 2021 it could not participate for reasons of the coronavirus pandemic.

It is worth mentioning that during the National Congress of the National Professional Basketball League held in Mexico City and presided over by Sergio Ganem, in his capacity as President, it was announced that the deadline to participate would be July 10, for what the potosino team will still have a chance of being included if it manages to get support and sponsorships in a few days.

However, it seems difficult for this to happen, since when it became known that the 2022 season starts with 10 teams that do have financial solvency, they are practically ruling out other teams that could join, despite the fact that the idea was to start the championship with 12 clubs.
