Troubled by VR46: Difficult to provide a slot in MotoGP if Celestino Vietti wins Moto2

Bola.net – Mooney VR46 Racing Team manager, Pablo Nieto, did not hide his mixed feelings seeing Celestino Vietti’s competitive performance in Moto2 this season. Happy to see that Valentino Rossi’s protege is a candidate for world champion, Nieto admits that it is difficult for his squad to give Vietti a slot in MotoGP 2023.

Vietti, who is a member of the VR46 Riders Academy, made his Moto3 2018 debut with Sky Racing VR46, replacing the injured Nicolo Bulega. Despite only participating in four series, he sensationally finished third in Australia. In fact, he had never previously raced outside Europe, especially at Phillip Island.

He got a full contract in Moto3 in 2019, and his best performance is in 5th place in 2020. During his time in Moto3, Vietti collected 8 podiums and 2 wins. He moved up to Moto2 in 2021, but missed the podium. This year, he is more fierce. In eight series, he won 4 podiums and 2 wins, and sits at the top of the standings.
