Youngsters are measured at district level
Kamen. After a break that was far too long, the judoka of TuS Eichengrün Kamen have finally returned to competition. At the district tournament in Lünen, which also represented the district championships for the age groups U11 and U13, they were able to achieve some good placements. In the U11 age group, Jonathan Schiereck and Maximilian Rasel started together in the -28 kg weight class. Both started the tournament with a win, but each suffered a defeat. As a result, both finally faced each other in the fight for third place, which Jonathan won and thus achieved the bronze medal. He thus qualified for the district championships, which were held a week later. After an unfortunate defeat in the first encounter, he confidently fought his way through the entire consolation round and found himself fighting for third place again. Unfortunately, he was not able to win this one, but he can also be very satisfied with the 5th place at the district level.
In the -37 kg weight class, Fabian Flörke faced a difficult field of participants. After three unfortunate defeats, however, he won his fourth encounter and found himself in third place. He also started at the district championships, where he was able to win his first fight. However, this was followed by two defeats, so that he was eliminated from the tournament. In the +48 kg weight class, Johanna Hoyer became district champion without a fight, as there were no opponents that day.
In the U13 age group, Ida Hein faced two opponents in the -36 kg weight class. In the course of the competition, each of them was able to record a win and a loss for themselves. Since Ida managed to score the most points, she was finally able to call herself the proud district champion.
In the U15 age group, Tom Hein took second place in the -66 kg weight class, even though he was unfortunately unable to prevail against his only opponent in two matches. Marian Rasel had no opponents in the -50 kg weight class, so he took first place without a fight.
The TuS judoka were also represented with two starters in the U18 age group. Hannah Schwarze competed in the -63 kg weight class and faced a strong opponent. After a long break from competition, she was not able to assert herself, but she still showed a strong performance and achieved the silver medal. Philipp Küper was particularly strong in the -50 kg weight class. He only faced one opponent, so the fight was based on the “best of three” mode. He was able to win two of the three encounters, so he deservedly went home with the gold medal. Yannik Rasel was less fortunate in the -60 kg weight class, who suffered two defeats and was eliminated from the tournament.
The TuS Eichengrün Kamen is very happy that the youngsters can now regularly compete with opponents and hopes for further good results in the next competitions.
