Beşiktaş and Gaziantep Basketball will take part in FIBA ​​Europe Cup

Two Turkish teams will compete in the FIBA ​​Men’s European Cup in the 2022-2023 season.

According to the statement made by the organization, Gaziantep Basketballwhile gaining the right to participate in the tournament directly, Besiktas will start from the qualifying stage.

In the regular season, besides Gaziantep Basketball, Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen (Belgium), BC Balkan (Bulgaria), HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim (Germany), Hapoel Galil Elion (Israel), New Basket Brindisi (Italy), Donar Groningen (Netherlands), Anwil Wloclawek (Poland), Porto (Portugal) and CSM Oradea (Romania) obtained direct participation.

19 of the clubs that will participate in the Basketball Champions League qualifying rounds stated that they would prefer to participate in the FIBA ​​European Cup if they could not make it to the regular season. Up to 18 of these clubs will be able to participate in the FIBA ​​Europe Cup, starting directly from the regular season.

For this reason, FIBA ​​Europe will hold four qualifying tournaments on September 27-30 to determine the clubs that will fill the remaining places in the regular season and compete in the 2022-2023 season. The 22 clubs participating in the four qualifying tournaments will be split into six bags for the draw, based on the results of the FIBA ​​Europe Cup from the previous three seasons.

There will be 10 seeded clubs that will participate directly in the semi-finals of the tournaments, which will be placed with four teams in the first bag, four teams in the second bag and two teams in the third bag.

First bag (seeded teams): ZZ Leiden (Netherlands), Sporting (Portugal), Kapfenberg Bulls (Austria), Rilski Sportist (Bulgaria)

Second Bag (seeded teams): Telenet Giants Antwerp (Belçika), Kataja Basket (Finlandiya), Sigal Prishtina (Kosova), BESIKTAS

Third Pond (2 seeded teams): Hapoel Haifa (Israel), Cholet Basket (France), Kalev/Cramo (Estonia), Petrolina AEK (Greek Cyprus)

Fourth bag: SCMU Craiova (Romania), Czarni Slupsk (Poland), BG Gottingen (Germany), Aris BSA (Greece)

Fifth bag: BC CBET Jonava, BC Wolves (Lithuania), BC Trepca (Kosovo), Jamtland Basket (Sweden)

Sixth bag: KK Cedevita Junior (Croatia), Thor Thorlakshofn (Iceland)

STATUS

In tournaments A and B, the teams in the third bag will be matched against the teams in the sixth bag and the teams in the fourth bag will be paired with the teams in the fifth until all quarterfinals have been completed.

In tournaments C and D, the two seeded teams in the third bag will advance directly to the semi-finals.

The draw will take place on Thursday, July 14 in Munich, Germany.
