In the women’s elite group, Pētersone finished fifth in the first race, but won the race of last hope and entered the top sixteen. For juniors, Stūriška won the race of the first round and entered the quarterfinals.
In the men’s elite group, Mikus Strazdiņš was eighth in the first round and took fourth place in the race of last hope, failing to qualify for the round of 16.
For juniors, in the first round, Kārlis Pedraudzi finished third in his race and reached the round of 16, where he, in turn, finished seventh and did not qualify for Sunday’s competition. Emīls Mārtiņš Treimanis was fifth in the first round, but in the race of last hope he finished fourth, which was not enough to continue the competition.
In the U-23 group, Rinalds Jānis Kārkliņš was eighth in the first round and fourth in the last hope round, also ending the competition.
The elimination battles will continue on Sunday, when the world champions will be determined.
