College badminton champions

Maelia, Bénédicte, Marie, Lorenzo, Anton, Loumys and Avel the young referee, students at the Marceau-Lapierre college, took part in the French badminton championships.

Vincent Moullière, PE teacher (physical education and sports) explains: “The establishment team won the Gard championship and won the regional championship in Mèze and thus obtained its qualification for the French school championships in Avignon“Result of the challenge: 18th place out of 27 teams from France and overseas.”They realized a dream by being qualified for the French championships”, tells the teacher to describe the current state of mind of the players. They fought. As was the case in particular in the regional final where the girls’ doubles made a spectacular comeback.

They were pugnacious: this is the fifth participation of the college since 2006. “It’s a real feat for young people who mostly discovered the activity either in primary school or in college. Only one of them practices in a club”, notes the teacher not without pride.

The college’s sports association has 95 students, or 60% of the establishment’s workforce. The next generation is ready: the youngest team obtained a second place in the Gard championship and a 4th in the regional championship.
