Defined women’s Euroleague groups

The two groups of the Women’s Euroleague that will begin in October have already been defined. If Uni beats Villeneuve in the preliminaries they will play on the 12th (going to France) and October 19th (returning to Fontajau), they will play in group B, where Perfumerias Avenida is located. There, you will also find Turkish CBK Mersin, Belgian Mechelen Basketball, Italian Beretta Familia Schio, French Basketball Landes and Hungarian Sopron Basketball, as well as the team that wins the play-off between the Turkish Botas SK, the Hungarian DVTK and the Ramla, from Israel.

Cayetano Peréz, president of Spar Girona, is aware that the previous one must be played, but believes that it is a group with “very powerful teams”, with which “the public could enjoy Fontajau a lot, in matches that create fans” .

If Uni did not beat Villeneuve, they would play the second European competition, the EuroCup. There, he would be in Group J, of the second conference, facing La Roche Vendée BC of France and the English London Lions, as well as the winner of the preliminaries between the Bank of Sardinia Sassari (Italy) and the House of Talents Spurs (Belgium).

“It’s a level group, especially for the French teams,” says Cayetano Pérez, who does not forget his goal: “To take Girona to the Euroleague to enjoy the competition again.”

In group A of the top European competition will be Valencia, Uni’s rival in the league, and Virtus Bologna, who had to be in the preliminaries with Spar Girona but qualified for the resignation of Riga. Hungarian Atomerömu Szekszard, Polish BC Polkowice, French Tango Bourges, Turkish Fenerbache and Czech ZKVZ USK Prague will also play. The group will be completed by the winner of the preliminaries between the Red Star, Sepsi and Olympiakos.
