Serge Gnabry left a lucrative contract offer from FC Bayern unanswered for a long time. There were many indications of a change in the summer. Now there is a surprise. The national player will probably stay. And gets a lot of money.
NAccording to media reports, national player Serge Gnabry is about to extend his contract with FC Bayern. According to information from the sports portal “The Athletic”, the 27-year-old winger is expected to sign a new “long-term” contract with the German record champions “in the next few days”.
The TV broadcaster Sky also reported on Friday about the upcoming expansion of the cooperation. The offensive player’s current working paper is valid in Munich until June 30, 2023. According to “BILD”, Bayern reached an agreement with Gnabry on Thursday evening, on the player’s birthday.
Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic recently said that the club “definitely wanted to keep” Gnabry. “I think we showed him the necessary appreciation. I hope he chooses Bayern Munich,” said Salihamidzic on Sky at the end of June.
Gnabry, like star access Sadio Mané, had started training with Bayern after the summer break last week.
More than 15 million euros per year
For a long time, Gnabry had not accepted a lucrative offer from Bayern to extend the contract, and there was speculation about a move to Arsenal. Juventus Turin, Real Madrid and Manchester United are said to have registered their interest.
His new contract with Munich should be valid for four years and be the largest contract of his career so far. Bayern is said to have recently offered him an annual salary of more than 15 million euros.
