The NFL is once again in mourning, as it was announced that Former catcher Charles Johnson dies at 50who was the first selection of the 1994 Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The news was confirmed by CBS 17 in Wake Forest this Tuesday night, however, the causes of his death are unknown. It was also reported that Johnson was still linked to American football, because he was the assistant athletic director at Heritage High School.
Johnson’s journey
Johnson grew out of University of Colorado and due to his speed and good seasons he was one of the players to watch in the Draft of 1994which is why the Steelers drafted him at the number 17 positionwhere he stayed for five seasons.
In 1999 he emigrated to the Philadelphia Eaglesthe other team from Pennsylvania, although his moment of glory, even though he was not a star, was with the New England Patriots de Tom Bradywith whom he was able to win the Super Bowl (XXXVI) when they defeated the then Saint Louis Rams.
He finished his career in 2002 with the Buffalo Bills. In total he played 133 games where he registered 354 receptions, 4,606 yards and 24 touchdowns. So far, none of the teams with which he played during his time as a professional has made any comment on the matter.
