Jason Terry will reportedly join the coaching staff of new Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy. This is reported by Shams Charania (The Athletic).
According to previous reports, Terry was already a candidate for the Jazz’s vacant head coach position and was interviewed before the front office chose Hardy.
Terry is leaving his previous post as head coach of the Grand Rapids Gold, the Denver Nuggets’ G-League team, with the move. He started there last August and led his team to a 17-15 record but missed out on making the playoffs.
Terry also has experience as an assistant coach in college basketball, having spent a brief stint with his alma mater, Arizona, during the 2020-21 season. After his last appearance in the Big3 Basketball League in 2019, he was also the assistant general manager for the Texas Legends, the Dallas Mavericks’ G-League team.
He also spent the majority of his career there, crowned by the 2011 title win in his penultimate of 8 seasons in Dallas. In his statistically best season as a Mav (2008–09), he averaged 19.6 points, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game on shooting splits of 46.3%/36.6%/88.0% .
