Judo – Perfect start for the Wimpassinger young violets

With a strong delegation of 28 athletes, JC Wimpassing provided a third of all starters at the Kyu tournament for the age groups U10, U12 and U14 in the Krems sports hall. In this judo competition, the athletes are divided into performance classes according to their experience or their belt level. It is therefore a perfect introductory tournament to gain initial competitive experience. They were looked after by the trainers Markus Pausch and Katharina Kernegger.

In the U10 age group, most of the children competed in their first competition. Here Skadi Brunner (-28 kg) and Pia Langeder (-40 kg) were able to prevail against all their opponents and achieve 1st place. Just missing victory, but achieving the excellent 2nd place: Lilly-Maria Sykora (+48 kg), Ilvy Bruckner (-40 kg), Kilian Grammanitsch (-30 kg) and Marlene Lechner (-34 kg).

The latter had a hard time, having to compete against boys of about the same weight for lack of opponents in her weight class. Nevertheless, she was able to fight for the strong 2nd place. Lino Fank (-38 kg), Alexander Peche (-24 kg), Niko Dopplinger (-30 kg), Olivia Frey (-32 kg) and Valerie Grammanitsch (-28 kg) came in 3rd and thus still on the podium. Just short of the podium, but richer with their first competition experience, the following athletes are looking forward to the next tournament: Mia Polleres (-32 kg, 4th place), Vanessa Supin (-28 kg, 4th place), Liam Kafka (-28 kg, 4th place), Lara Strebinger (-28 kg, 5th place), Max Alexa (-42 kg, 5th place), Maximilian Putschögl (-30 kg, 5th place) and Luis Neubauer( -30 kg, 5th place).

In the U12 age group, Yurik Hakobjan (-38 kg) and Tessa Neubauer (-48 kg) were able to defeat all their opponents and thus win. Phillipp Jeitler and Felix Zhou (-50 kg) were happy about silver. Third place went to Anton Kolodii (-38 kg), Philipp Supin (-27 kg) and Sophia Frey (-34 kg), who, like one of their club colleagues, had to assert themselves against male opponents.

The Wimpassinger judoka in the U14 age group all played their first tournament. Luis Polleres competed in two different weight classes and also in a higher performance class. Up to 55 kg, he was able to take first place, which he deserved. In the weight class up to 66 kg against a significantly heavier and more experienced opponent, he was able to fight hard and achieved 2nd place. Leon Pollross (-55 kg) only had to admit defeat to his club colleague and thus won silver with ease. Marcel Elian (-34 kg) was also able to celebrate third place with a strong performance.

Thus, the JCW won a total of five gold, eight silver, nine bronze, three 4th places and four 5th places.
