With Jamal Morris, the Weißenfels team’s best basket hunter from last season is leaving the BBL club. His compatriots Reggie Upshaw and Johannes Richter are also going with the American. All three could not agree financially with their previous employer on contract extensions. The wolves announced this on Wednesday.
Morris averaged 16.6 points in 34 appearances last season, the best in the MBC team. Morris, Upshaw and Richter are departures seven through nine this summer. Seven players from last season have contracts for 2022/23, including Germany international Kostja Mushidi.
Bonn swaps on the wing
Meanwhile, Telekom Baskets Bonn have signed American Collin Malcolm. The 25-year-old winger joins Hartberg from eight-time Cypriot champions and reigning treble winners (Championship, Cup and Super Cup) Keravnos BC, where he has signed a contract until the summer of 2023. Javontae Hawkins, however, is not returning to the Baskets.
“Collin is a young, versatile forward whose skills on the ball are very promising. He can create for himself and his teammates from dribbling, or play with his back to the basket, which gives us additional offensive options,” said Baskets head coach Tuomas Iisalo on the new acquisition.
