PONTE SAN GIOVANNI – The 2021-22 sports season for Sakura Judo Ponte San Giovanni ended last week. A season, which will surely remain etched for a long time in the minds and hearts of young Ponteggiani judokas, 40 years have passed since Maestro Roberto Sabatini founded the company, and as such, the season could not fail to be special. Many medals during the year, many successes, on which the victory as a team at the Csen national judo championship in December stands out, and the medals obtained in an Italian key, by Federica Faraone (bronze in the A2 Italian Cup) and Michele Baldassarri (bronze at the Gran Prix JU / SE in Perugia), and the last ones arrived in the last week of activity. To close the season we thought the athletes of the Veterans category (Over 30), Daniele Calzoni, Letizia Mencarelli and Filippo Capoccia (athlete of the Judo Club Città della Pieve who regularly trains in Ponte San Giovanni) wearing the jersey of the Umbrian Representative category have won, resulting decisive with their performances, a prestigious bronze medal at the Italian Championship for Master Teams which took place in Massa Martana on Sunday 26 June, prevailing over representatives from most of the Peninsula. But not only that, on the same day, at the Veterans Grand Prix, also in Massa Martana, the expert judoka of Sakura collected important medals in the national competition, obtaining two silvers with Letizia Mencarelli and Filippo Capoccia and a fifth place with Daniele Calzoni. A season of further improvement has therefore ended, with the JuDonna course invented by the master Sabatini, and followed by him and Letizia Mencarelli who continue their work of growth, as well as the little ones who continue to crowd the mattress. All for the maximum satisfaction of the entire historical group, starting with the president Daniele Calzoni, and passing through the managers Roberto and Federico Sabatini, Andrea and Antonio Liotta, Gianni and Roberto Mastriforti, Michele Baldassarri and Luciano Todini.
