NFL: the league closely monitors the file of Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara’s offseason arrest is still under investigation by the NFL, which is monitoring all legal developments, including his August 1 court date, it said. a source at ESPN Network.

The league hasn’t set a deadline to make a decision on a potential sanction for violating the league’s code of conduct, so the New Orleans Saints star running back could play that week 1, unless placed on leave with pay via the Commissioner’s Exemption List.

NFL sources told ESPN the feeling is that Kamara could be suspended, but nothing is decided and much could depend on the outcome of the case.

Kamara was arrested in February for assault and battery following an incident at a Las Vegas casino over Pro Bowl weekend.

The August 1 hearing has already been postponed twice after lawyers asked for more time to review evidence provided by prosecutors.

Police said video shows Kamara putting her hand on the alleged victim’s chest to prevent her from heading for the rooftop elevator at Drai’s nightclub on February 5. Police say the man pushed Kamara’s hand away and Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Chris Lammons punched him.

The man fell unconscious to the ground and the defendants, who also included two other men, allegedly stomped on his face, chest and legs, inflicting facial fractures and injuries to his head, knees and arms.

Kamara appeared in the Pro Bowl on February 6 before being arrested.
