Paolo Banchero cleared in drink-driving case

Before being selected by the Magic in first position of the Draft 2022, Paolo Banchero first spent a year at Duke and his university season had started rather badly.

In November, the 19-year-old player was arrested in Orange County (North Carolina) for drunk driving, along with his teammate Michael Savarino, the grandson of Mike Krzyzewski.

If he was not driving the vehicle, Paolo Banchero was still accused of having “aiding and abetting” drunken driving, namely that of his Michael Savarino, because the white 4×4 was registered in his name. The fact that they were both under 21 at the time of the events also does not help the situation.

Eventually, nine months after that arrest, the charges against Orlando’s newest star interior were dropped, as ‘Coach K’s’ grandson pleaded guilty to him this week. Therefore, in addition to having performed 24 hours of community service and paid a fine of 300 dollars, he was sentenced to a period of probation of twelve months.

As for Paolo Banchero, he can now turn fully, and with a free spirit, towards his very first season in the NBA, which will start next October, with the Magic.
