“This is a dream come true”, those were the words of Jean Pizarro upon receiving the confirmation on Thursday night that he will be part of the Archery World Cup final in the recurve bow modality.
Pizarro started the 2022 World Cup season with a second place finish in qualifying and fourth place overall in the first leg in Turkey, then in Korea he was ninth place and repeated fourth place in France. In this last stage in Colombia he closed in 17th place.
“This is a dream come true, I focused entirely on the competition and this classification to the final was achieved, this year it has double meaning because the format is a more complicated one since the bonus points were created. I am proud to achieve it and I will follow my concentration 100%”, Pizarro mentioned in a press release.
The World Cup final brings together the best seven goalkeepers according to the classification of the four stages, the eighth goalkeeper is from the host country, this time Mexico.
The national compound champion said he was happy with his performance, “I feel happy with the work, being among the best eight gives me extra motivation to continue working,” he said
Pizarro has had an excellent 2022, in addition to his work in the field as president of the Puerto Rico Archery Federation, he organized the Puerto Rico Archery Cup, one of the best sporting events held in the country in recent years.
The Cup final will be in the Mexican city of Tlaxcala on October 15 and 16.
