Rostocker Alexander Czerwinski has already shot with Til Schweiger

Portrait of an extraordinary man

Man of contrasts: Alexander Czerwinski used to be sumo world champion, today he is an actor. In front of the camera, the Rostocker likes to play the villain, privately he stands up for others – meanwhile, in his youth he was on the move in the skinhead scene. A portrait.

Rostock. “La Vida Loca” – that is the motto of Alexander Czerwinski. Years ago he had the words engraved on his chest in large letters. They stand for “Crazy Life”. The Rostocker, 53, has left out nothing: First he is considered one of the greatest judo talents in the GDR, then he is doped at the ASK Frankfurt/Oder, finally turns his back on the skinhead scene and dares a new start several times – sportingly and professionally.

In 2008 Jens Putzier, now chairman and team manager of the Griffins, brought the former world sumo champion to football. Czerwinski’s passion was immediately sparked. As a former martial artist, he is used to giving it his all. “I left a lot of health on the field because the team needed me,” says the 145-kilo man.
