Archery took second place, mixed team. ESA reached 10 Bolivarian medals
They were close to oro. However, the Salvadoran archers, in the compound modality, kept the silver medal for mixed teams. Yesterday, the duo made up of Roberto Hernández and Sofía Paiz finished the final down and gave the country the tenth metal (three golds, three silvers and four bronzes), in the Bolivarian Games of Valledupar, in Colombia.
The nationals lost in the final against the host team, made up of Daniel Muñoz and Sara López -two well known by Santaneco-, by 155-152. Getting on the podium for a medal was part of the objectives of the two archers from Cusco, who are preparing to attend the World Games.
In the camino to this second place, the Salvadorans defeated the Dominican Republic in the quarterfinals, by 153-149; and in the semifinal stage, to Ecuador, by 155-151.
“It doesn’t stop giving you that bittersweet feeling, because we had the match in our hands. The public weighed us down a bit, conditions that are not normal for us, but we did a good job throughout the route to reach the final and we made the world champions tremble, and that is a good result,” Hernández said.
While Sofia declared: “I feel satisfied. The truth is that I thought I was going to win this match, but things didn’t work out for us. But a silver always suits us very well”.
In the recurvo mixed equipment, ESA they stayed in the round of 16, losing to Guatemala 5-3. While in the compound individual, Hernández finished fourth (697); Douglas Nolasco, fifth (695); and Miguel Véliz, sixth (694). In women, Paiz closed sixth (676); Paola Corado, seventh (673) and Camila Alvarenga, ninth (662). In recurve, Óscar Ticas was fifth (637) and Marcela Cortez seventh (577).
On the other hand, today the sailor Quique Arathoon would be expected to reap a medal. The national finished, until the seventh regatta, in the first place with 16 net points (23 total). He draws one less than the Peruvian Stefano Peschiera (17, 26), who had been leading the entire competition. Today, the eighth and last regatta would take place.
Regarding artistic swimming, Grecia Mendoza and Cesia Castaneda finished in the top five of the technical duet, with 64.54 points.

They came home with their medals
With medals around his neck. This is how, on Thursday, the four national badminton players returned, after having won four medals in the Bolivarian Games of Valledupar.
The athletes were received by family and friends at the Comalapa airport. Everyone experienced moments of joy when they saw them with their metals: one gold, one silver and two bronzes. There were emotional moments such as Fátima Centeno’s embrace of her mother, Morena Fuentes, even the Cuscatleca woman hung the two medals she won around her neck (second and third place). The same Daniela Hernández, received by her mother, Aura Cativo, who brought her flowers. They both hugged. And coach René Madrid was entertained by his wife.
The gold and bronze medalist Uriel Canjura, pride of Suchitoto, expressed to Indes: “The reception has been good and the people who were at the airport also joined, and the warmth of the people of El Salvador was felt.”
