2 – The castle of Beaucamps-le-Jeune

Renaissance brick and stone castle located in the Somme, in the town of Beaucamps-le-Jeune. It was built in the 16th century by Anne de Pisseleu, Duchess of Etampes and favorite of François I. She would have undertaken the construction of the residence in 1537 and completed in 1574. Transformations mark the castle during the 18th century. It is about the reconstruction or repair of the wing of the stables and sheepfolds, which closes the courtyard to the east and which bears the date of 1771. The castle, acquired by the Bishopric of Amiens, is occupied in the years 1960-1970 for a playful activity…

3 – The castle of Saint-Saëns

Located in Saint-Saëns, the Château de Vaudichon is on the left bank of the Varenne. It is made of bricks in the style of Norman castles under François 1er. It belonged to the Estouteville family. The two pavilions of the castle are joined together by a long vaulted gallery. It was built in the 19th century named after the eponymous hamlet. The Château de Vaudichon was the residence of Baron d’Haussez, then, until the middle of the 20th century, that of his descendants1, in the Guignard de Saint-Priest, Chastel de La Howarderie and Castellane families.

4 – The castle of Bouelles

Located a few kilometers from Neufchâtel-en-Bray, it is thanks to Marguerite Elisabeth de Beurges who married in 1847 with Jules Comte de Bouelles, that we owe this building. She obtained permission from her husband to build a castle fitted out for parties and receptions in the Pays de Bray. There is thus a row of living rooms with high and molded ceilings. Today, property of a famous Austrian crystal maker, we discover a plant architecture in harmony with that of the castle. Designed by a Belgian landscape architect, the British-style park hides many secrets.

5 – The castle of Bremontier-Merval

Located in the heart of the Pays de Bray, the Merval estate is a listed site which extends over 120 hectares and houses a castle dating from the 17th century. The magnificent site invites you to stroll between the main building, the superb dovecote and the conservatory orchard which holds 500 varieties of local apples. A great discovery to make during this summer.

6 – The castle of Trefforest

The Trefforest estate is located in Mesnil-Mauger in the Pays de Bray, a few kilometers from Forges-les-Eaux. We know that work on the castle’s outbuildings dates from 1596. The building of the main building began in the 17th century. But it was extensively altered after a fire in the 19th century. The estate also houses a well and a period chapel. But an exceptional story disturbs the tranquility of Trefforest during the Second World War.
