The meeting of Dutch football player Jeff Hardeveld with his future could be called a story like a fairy tale. In August of last year, he didn’t finish the match after a red card, but he found love thanks to the suspension.
On August 13, 2021, Shona Shukrula oversaw the second league match between FC Emmen and FC Eindhoven (0:1) as the fourth referee. In the 91st minute, she watched the Emmena defender leave the field, but she had no idea that the punished footballer would soon become her life partner.
That was the first time they met on the sideline. Four months later, they went on vacation to Rome together and officially confirmed their relationship on social media.
And in May 2022, they moved the relationship, which started with a red card, even higher. Hardeveld proposed to his girlfriend at the Euromast observation tower in Rotterdam. From it you can see the nearby park, where a banner with the inscription “Will you marry me?” stood his friends.
He then announced the happy news on the networks: “She said yes!“.
The 26-year-old defender is currently still playing for FC Emmen. In the past, he also played in the highest Dutch league in the jersey of Utrecht or Heracles. Shukrulaová is one of the recognized referees, she regularly oversees the women’s qualification at European and world championships and also works in the Champions League. He has been active in the second highest men’s competition in the Netherlands for the second year.
