Public educational institutes and sports centers will receive basketball boards made with materials obtained from counterfeit products. This was reported by the Undersecretary of the Environment, Gerardo Amarilla, who added that the initiative is the “tangible physical manifestation” of promoting circular economy processes. The action is part of an inter-institutional agreement that includes the donation of between 20 and 30 boards.
Within the framework of the Score Green campaign and the policy of destruction of counterfeit products and their use as sustainable inputs, the National Sports Secretariat (SND), the Ministry of the Environment, the National Administration of Public Education, the Uruguayan Basketball Federation and the Cervieri Monsuárez law firm, entities that promote the Vamos Equipo program, signed an agreement this Thursday 28 at Executive Tower to formalize their commitment.
Amarilla maintained, in the oratory, that the plastic boards manufactured by the Uruplac company are the “tangible physical manifestation” of the result of the circular economy processes, which refers to the reduction of the use of non-renewable resources and the reuse of waste as raw Materials.
The agreement includes the donation of a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 30 basketball boards for public educational institutions and sports centers.
In addition to Amarilla, the secretary and undersecretary of the National Sports Secretariat, Sebastián Bauzá and Pablo Ferrari; the director of Federated Sports, Eduardo Ulloa; the promoter of Sembrando, Lorena Ponce de León, and representatives of the Office of Planning and Budget, the National Administration of Public Education and the Uruguayan Olympic Committee.
