With ‘Yola’ Ramírez, ‘Pelón’ Osuna and Raúl Ramírez launch the Mexican Tennis Hall of Fame

In an emotional ceremony, the first investiture of the Mexican Tennis Hall of Fame, where the multiple winners Yolanda Ramírez, Rafael Osuna and Raúl Ramírez were the first rackets honored in search of remembering their legacy and serving as a boost for new generations.

Rafael Belmar Osuna. President of the Council of the Mexican Tennis Hall of Fame, he was in charge of this initiative together with other personalities with the illusion of reactivate those legends of the national white sport that for many years went unnoticed, because this type of act had to be carried out for years.

“We pay tribute to ‘Yola’ Ramírez, Raúl Ramírez and Rafael Osuna because they are the three greatest Mexican tennis players, three great international tennis players, who unfortunately they seem forgotten in our history. It’s great that there is a group of people who are interested in safeguarding that history.”

He added that this investiture is planned to “do it year after year, not trying to recover the lost years because it had to be done 40 years ago, let’s go do it little by little with the best exponents of this sport and to be able to divulge, that people know the history and that there are new values”.

He ruled out that the parameters to integrate this Mexican Tennis Hall of Fame will be squandered, knowing that for a long time this sport lacked players with a high level. “The bar is going to be set high, not just anyone is going to enter, this is going to be exclusive to highlight international level, not for playing at the national level they will be in this venue”, indicated the nephew of the legendary “Pelón” Osuna.

Yolanda Ramírez, who arrived accompanied by her granddaughter at the Industrial Club, expressed her emotion at receiving the award and being honored in life. “For me it means that it is a great honor. Maybe he didn’t deserve it so much as they have made me feel, but I am proud”.
