Andrés Maestre won by knockout in Mexico in MMA

The fighter Claudio Andrés Maestre Rojano, a native of the village of Patillal, jurisdiction of Valledupar, continues to take firm steps in his attempt to ascend in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA, for its acronym in English).

In the last outing of the 25-year-old puncher, surprised the local Said Villanuevain a fight that was part of the MMA Nations event at the Canacintra Convention Center, held in Saltillo, Mexico City.

Maestre defeated his Mexican rival by way of knockout in the category of less than 77 kilograms. This victory catapults Cesar in the ranking of his weight and puts him on the verge of an important fight for the MMA Nations belt (mixed martial arts organization in Latin America).

The challenge now of the one based in ‘manito’ territory is to maintain the record of fights won in the first round. “I am listed in MMA Nations as a finishing fighter and I want them to continue looking at me like that, as someone to be feared”, expressed Maestre from Mexico, in an interview with El Pilón.

“I want the MMA Nations belt, I want to be champion of that company in the medium term, and like every professional fighter, the dream is to reach the UFC,” he said.

The story in the ‘cages’ of Maestre Rojano, whoWho accumulates four victories in five fights carried outbegan 8 years ago, when he ventured into muay thai, also known as Thai boxing, a sport he practiced in Valledupar. In this discipline, at the age of 19, he won the national title in 2016 in the 70-kilogram division.

However, despite the successful start in muay thai, he decided to venture into mixed martial arts, without a doubt, the fastest growing combat sport in the last decade. “It has been hard being here without my family, but it fills me with joy that everyone is there celebrating my triumphs and feeling proud of this son of Patillal,” Maestre pointed out.
