Barça: it’s settled or just like for Riqui Puig

Riqui Puig’s adventure with FC Barcelona is coming to an end. Not retained by the Catalan club and its coach Xavi, the young Spanish midfielder is heading for a transfer to Major League Soccer. The 22-year-old is due to sign with the Los Angeles Galaxy franchise.

Barred by competition at FC Barcelona, Riqui Puig will not last forever under Xavi’s orders. Barring a last-minute surprise, the Spanish midfielder will continue his career on the other side of the Atlantic. As revealed by the Sports world, the 22-year-old has signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy. The former member of La Masia, Barça’s training center, must sign a three-year contract with the Major League Soccer franchise. This Wednesday, Sport reveals that Riqui Puig has been cleared to sit out the training session alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s partners. The Catalan club gave him permission to leave its facilities in order to settle his departure on American soil.

56 matches in all competitions

Under contract until June 2023, the Spanish international U21 (4 selections) will not prolong the pleasure with his training club, for which he had taken his first steps in the first team during the 2018-2019 season and will have played 56 matches in all competitions, for 2 goals. Confined until the end to a substitute status, without managing to upset the hierarchy, Riqui Puig will not have benefited from a very substantial playing time with the Spanish coach. Last season, the Iberian nugget took part in 17 matches in all competitions including 14 La Liga matches and one goal, but with only two league starts and two small appearances on the European scene. Not selected by FC Barcelona, Riqui Puig knew that he had to say goodbye to Camp Nou, no doubt with regret.
