All Danish U19 national team players had to compete on the third day at UEM, and the result of Wednesday will be a whopping 11 wins and two defeats. In women’s singles beat Frederikke Østergaard surprised the first-seeded Polina Buhrova out of UEM in two sets. – Frederikke was really sharp on the game plan from start to finish, says the national coach.
Wednesday was another great Danish day at UEM in Belgrade. It resulted in a total of 11 victories in the 13 games in which the Danes started. With 11 wins, two defeats and a nice surprise, the coaching team behind the U19 national team players are satisfied with the outcome of the games, where the players generally deliver well.
In the women’s singles category, Denmark’s Frederikke Østergaard delivered the surprise when she knocked out first-seeded Polina Buhrova from Ukraine with 21-18, 21-14.
– We are generally satisfied. There are two men’s singles who are completely out on the ropes, but still make it home. We have many players who perform really well and work well with things on the pitch. They get to move tactically. Frederikke delivers a fantastic result. Unfortunately, there are two games that we lose a little unnecessarily, says U19 national coach Rune Ulsing.

Women’s Singles:
- Frederikke Østergaard (DEN) – Polina Buhrova (UKR): 21-18, 21-14
- Sofie Karmann (DEN) – Antonia Schaller (GER): 15-21, 21-15, 16-21
- Benedicte Sillassen (DEN) – Karla Henry (BEL): 21-10, 21-15
– A super focused and tactically very good performance, where Frederikke was really sharp on the game plan from start to finish and also threw in small variations where necessary. It just meant that the Ukrainian could not get a rhythm in her game. Frederikke was incredibly good at ruining the game Polina wanted to play. She controls the frontcourt very well.
– Sofie Karmann is very closed, struggles a lot with daring to do the things that need to be done. She gets a little too eager in situations where too many mistakes are made. She struggles a lot with finding calm and focusing on the game plan.
– Benedicte delivered a super focused effort. She is coming up fast and is dangerous today. Overall a good match.

Men’s Singles:
- Christian Faust Kjær (DEN) – Oleksii Titov (UKR): 24-22, 21-14
- William Bøgebjerg (DEN) – Kristof Toth (FEMALE): 19-21, 21-12, 22-20
- Jakob Houe (DEN) – Jerome Pauquet (LUX): 21-12, 21-8
– Christian and William really had to fight for it today. Christian hit far from his peak level, and he never really finds the flow in the game. Still, he gets to take home the victory, and it’s strong. William also got into trouble, but it’s great that he still takes home the victory.
– Houe was completely on his opponent today with a higher tempo.

Women’s Doubles:
- Emma Irring Braüner/Sofie Røjkjær (DEN) – Kirsten De Wit/Meerete Loos (NED): 21-12, 21-10
- Benedicte Sillassen/Maria Højlund Tommerup (DEN) – Varvara Frolova/Sofiia Lavrova (UKR): 21-14, 21-19
– Emma and Sofie win their match very convincingly. When you win so big, it’s a sign that you have sat on the opponent.
– Benedicte and Maria play a good match. They are put together here at UEM, so match by match they get things done. They get some good agreements made and they get more structure. The girls get a little confused in the second set, where the Ukrainians change their tactics. The Danes will stand a little too still and won’t be able to make the moves they need to make, but when it gets to the point they still succeed and close the set.

Men’s Doubles:
- Jakob Houe/Christian Faust Kjær (DEN) – Bartosz Krajewski / Dominik Kwinta (POL): 21-3, 21-10
- Hjalte Johansen/Jeppe Søby (DEN) – Oleksii Titov/Ivan Tsaregorotsev (UKR): 21-11, 21-18
– Jakob and Christian are focused, and the Polish couple find it difficult to keep up. They are really good at the return game and good at finding holes on the pitch. They are a level above the others tactically. If they can keep their heads down, things are looking really good. Hjalte and Jeppe also did well. They are a couple who can also play for the medals, so it will be great to see if they can keep up the level all the way.

Mixed doubles:
- Hjalte Johansen/Emma Irring Braüner (DEN) – Mio Molin/Sofie Strömvall (SWE): 21-15, 21-18
- Jonathan Melgaard/Maria Højlund Tommerup(DEN)-Jonathan Dresp/Anna Mejikovskiy(GER): 21-12, 18-21, 11-21
- Jeppe Søby/Sofie Røjkjær – Kean Gabor Kigyus/Nikol Szabina Vetor (HUN): 21-18, 21-13
-Hjalte and Emma play a good match and add some good things along the way. Jeppe and Sofie do the same, where they close some gaps during the match and become sharper. The last mix with Jonathan and Maria collapses a bit at the end, where they otherwise have a good handle on it at the start. But in the third set, they lose track of the tactics, and unfortunately end up losing.
