Fernando Tatis is upset with MLB for his son’s suspension

Fernando Tatis Jr., an infielder for the San Diego Padres, was suspended 80 games without pay for Big leagues because he violated the performance-enhancing drug policy. However, there are people close to him who believe that the league made a mistake by punishing the Dominican.

El padre de Fernando Tatis gave a telephone interview for The Midday Showa sports program broadcast in the Dominican Republic, in which explained why her son tested positive for clostebol.

“Jr.’s image is totally on the ground, as if he were the bad guy in the movie, as if he had cheated for the game. […] What Jr. involves is a steroid containing topical spray, called Trofobol. The spray is used for a fungus that came out on his neck due to a bad cut”, sentenced Tatis Sr.

Later, the former Rangers, Cardinals, Expos, Orioles and Mets player stated that it is a catastrophe for baseball that the image of his son is destroyed for something simple like a topical spray.

“The way it was handled was a mistake, destroying the image of a player for simplicity, for a situation like this. […] It is a catastrophe, not so much for Jr, but for baseball. All this happened for something that was not worth it, it was something for the skin, not something that would improve its performance and that he has no testosterone. It does nothing to help you improve your game, “said the infielder’s father.

Tatis Jr. has not played in the 2022 Major League campaign due to a broken wrist and suspension will miss much of the next season.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not allow US products to include clostebolbut it is in the active ingredients of products sold in Central and South America.
