The versatile defender with Basque roots, with a past at Real Sociedad, signs for two seasons with the option of a third

Under the orders of Aitor Zulaika for days, it was not until this Wednesday when the Royal Union made official the hiring of the Venezuelan Jon Mikel Aramburu (Caracas, 2002) for the next two seasons with the option of a third. The defender has been involved in the dynamics of the group for a couple of weeks and has already participated in the two friendlies that the Txuribeltz team has played so far.

The documentation from his home club had delayed the announcement of the signing in recent days. The new reinforcement of the Irundarras, international in lower categories with the Vinotinto team, arrives from Deportivo La Guaira of the FUTVE League (Venezuelan First Division). His demarcation is that of right back, although he is used to playing as a center back in a line of three or even as a left back with a changed leg.

Speaking to the club’s media, Aramburu assures that joining Real Unión “is a great opportunity to continue growing and developing my career. When I found out that this possibility existed, I didn’t think twice.” His link to the unionist cadre also has a special component. “I am very proud of my Basque roots and coming here means a lot to me.”

With a father and grandparents from San Sebastian, Jon Mikel Aramburu went through Real Sociedad in the cadet category, reaching a tournament in Iparralde in June 2017 with players like Jon Karrikaburu or Beñat Turrientes.

On Saturday, against Sanse

After facing Girondins de Bordeaux and Real Madrid Castilla, the Irundarras face this Saturday their third friendly match of the summer with Sanse as their opponent. Real Unión will face the renowned team coached by Sergio Francisco starting at 11:30 at Stadium Gal. The two teams are framed in group II of the First RFEF.
