The enterprise
He left on July 2 and arrived in Bodø and then embarked for the Lofoten Islands
Guido Anselli
He has 3,800 kilometers in his legs and has the last effort ahead of him, with another 1,200 kilometers.
Samuele Pozzoli, 21 years old from Inverigo, got on his bicycle last July 2nd and will only get off when he arrives at the North Cape, in the extreme edge of Norway. A company in complete autonomy with everything you need (some clothing, food and emergency material) carried with you in a backpack on your bicycle, sleeping even under the stars or finding hospitality in the villages where you stop. As happened the other day while he was traveling the “FV17”, the scenic route over the fjords in Norway.
«I had to stop due to bad weather but fortunately I found a hunter who gave me the opportunity to stay at his house – explains the inverighese -. And I also managed to dry all the equipment. And then I was able to do the washing machine: it is the third of my trip ». The path in Scandinavia of the young man from Como, who is also a judo instructor in Virtus Arosio alongside master Ermanno Quaranta, began in Trondheim.
“Since then I have cycled for about 900 kilometers, almost all of them on the scenic route and it hasn’t been easy at all. The weather – he continues – was also quite adverse. Without forgetting that I have almost 4,000 kilometers in my legs and the fatigue is felt ».
Pozzoli arrived in Bodø, an important city because from there he can embark for the Lofoten islands. The final part of the trip will not grant discounts to the young man from Inverigo who will have to pedal with passion and perseverance to go further and further up Norway until he fulfills his dream of reaching the North Cape, touching the northernmost point in Europe. Five thousand kilometers “burned” in two months, also passing through Lugano, Bellinzona, Basel, Colmar, Metz, Brussels, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Bremen and Hamburg before arriving in Scandinavia. An undertaking strongly desired to test himself, as he did last year with the Giro d’Italia.
