Les Médiévales de Falaise have honored the Middle Ages every year in August since 2002. This 20th anniversary will be exceptional over three days, with a fantastic edition (in addition to the history still present), a major program and new shows. Experience three days of historic and fantastic celebration in and around a unique place: the Château Guillaume-le-Conquérant.
Get ready to step back in time and immerse yourself in medieval times. On the program: medieval and fantastic markets, musicians, fights, wandering street performances, and a 12th century camp set up in the courtyard of the castle… Activities and shows for 3 non-stop days to make this anniversary of the Medieval even more memorable . Many of you are expected there!
Highlights with:
– The Game of Kings (team battles between soldiers),
– The Banner Throwers of Asti (jugglers from Italy)
– Fire shows in the evening at the Château de la Fresnaye (magic of colored flames, strange beings and storytelling by the fire)
– Grand parade with all the companies starting from Place Guillaume le Conquérant
– Josephine, a terrible fire-breathing dragon, catcher of princesses and pages, has awakened…beware
A historic atmosphere with:
– An immersion in the daily life of medieval people with civilian and military camps, historical costumes, crafts, cooking, squire training, archery…
– War machines in the square Charles Fairent
– Board games, wooden games, fights, archery events in the castle courtyard
– Monteurs de Merveilles with make-up, colored powder battles at the Courtil,
– Climbing the medieval tower in Val d’Ante
Shows with:
– A veteran’s account of the Battle of Hasting
– Le Vœu du Paon with Brunehaut, a pressure cooker
Markets with:
– Craftsmen and producers from place Guillaume to place Belle-Croix,
– Night market on Saturday and Sunday until 10 p.m.,
– Fiery music with the group Al Cantara,
– Quirky theater with “les Mourants d’Air”, two characters more dead than alive by the Laid Cru troupe
– Fabulous creatures roaming the market (trolls, dahus, storytellers and dragons of all sizes)
– Attack on taverns in Place Guillaume on Saturday and Sunday evening between 9 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.
Traffic and parking for the Medieval
On the occasion of the Médiévales de Falaise, in the hope that the event takes place in the best possible conditions, traffic and parking will be prohibited. from Thursday 11 to Tuesday 16 August for: place Guillaume le Conquérant, rue de la Porte du Château, place Guillaume le Conquérant at the corner of the Serais bakery, rue Rollon, rue de la Roche, alley of the Brasserie and alley of the Lavandières.
From Friday 12 to Tuesday 16 August : rue Gonfroy Fitz Rou to the corner of rue Amiral Courbet, rue Trinité, place Belle Croix, rue de la Pelleterie, rue Saint-Gervais, place du Canada, place Paul German.
From Thursday August 11 to Tuesday August 16rue Frédéric Galleron and rue du Camp Ferme will remain open to traffic.
A deviation will be set up towards: rue du Val d’Ante, via rue Porte Philippe Jean and rue des Anciennes Tanneries; Passage de l’Abbé Langevin, Passage de l’Épargne, Passage des Écoles, Rue du Camp Ferme and Rue du Val d’Ante.
The direction of traffic will be changed : no entry at the beginning of the Arlette passage, beginning of the Abbé Langevin passage, savings passage, passage des Écoliers, at the level of the campsite rue du Val d’Ante, in order to prevent vehicles from going up the axis which becomes downhill due to the deviation.
Parking prohibited from Friday August 12 to Tuesday August 16 8 a.m.partially at the Bercagnes car park, rue Amiral Courbet (at the entrance to Les Halles).
From Friday August 12 to Sunday August 14 11 p.m.partially at the level of the Fresnaye park.
Reception and ticket office from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Place des Bercagnes. Fares for the medieval paying area (Val d’Ante, Château, Courtil and Fossés): 1 day at €8/adult, €2/child (6 to 16 year) ; 2-day ticket at €10/adult, €4/child. Free for children under 6 years old.
